A dog’s paws take the world head-on — heat, cold, grit, and pavement. A short weekly check keeps them comfortable and catches small problems before they grow.
Step 1: Look and feel
Once a week, lift each paw and check the pads and between the toes. You are looking for cracks, redness, or anything stuck in the fur.
Step 2: Clean gently
Wipe paws with a damp cloth after walks, especially in winter when salt and ice-melt cling to the pads. Dry thoroughly between the toes.
Step 3: Moisturize
If pads look dry or rough, apply a pet-safe balm. Avoid human lotions, which can soften pads too much or tempt licking.
Step 4: Trim the nails
Nails that click on the floor are too long. Trim a little at a time, avoiding the quick, or ask a groomer if you are unsure.
At MIKIM PET we keep care simple — a few minutes each week goes a long way toward paws that stay happy on every walk.
